National competition for machine operators in the road construction industry.
There is a lack of qualified machinists in the road construction industry. Following the instructions from the President of Russia regarding road construction issues, the Russian Highways State Company, in collaboration with the National Association of Infrastructure Companies (NAIC), organized the First National Competition for Operators of Road Construction Industry in September 2023. As part of the competition, drivers are invited to participate in 6 different categories. There is also a special category for young professionals, where participants under the age of 23 can compete in two categories.

It is planned to hold the competition annually in different regions of the Russian Federation to increase the number of participants. Currently, we are working on the possibility of hosting the competition among BRICS countries next year. In 2024, the National Association of Infrastructure Companies proposed the inclusion of an annual National Competition for Machine Operators in the action plan for promoting workers and engineering professions, which was approved by a decree of the Russian government on March 5, 2015 (No. 366-R).
In 2024, the competition acquired the status of an international event. The participants included teams from the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the People's Republic of China. The competition site is located in the Central Federal District of the Russian Federation.
The competition is a unique platform that brings together representatives from all sectors of the road construction industry. Contestants come from road construction companies in different parts of Russia, as well as teams from Belarus, Kazakhstan, and China. Equipment for the event is provided by both domestic and foreign manufacturers. A large panel of judges consists of highly qualified experts from construction companies and equipment manufacturers. Theoretical tasks for the contest were developed in collaboration with representatives from higher and secondary specialized educational institutions.
