Developing the Social Infrastructure in Places of Residence of JSC Russian Railways Employees

Problem and implemented solution

The lack, poor condition and/or insufficiency of social infrastructure facilities. A total of 418 projects related to culture, sports, healthcare, education, and land improvement will be rolled out under the plan between 2021 and 2035. This includes the construction, renovation, major repair, improvement, and equipping of social infrastructure facilities.

70 municipalities in 34 constituent entities of the Russian Federation The project is being implemented in the Russian Federation, in areas where JSC Russian Railways has a presence and where a large part of the local population is made up of JSC Russian Railways employees (territories (settlements) in which JSC Russian Railways is a city-forming enterprise (where its employees account for at least 25 % of the working population), and/or settlements where a least 100 employees of JSC Russian Railways live within the territory of a municipal entity (micro-district, village, etc.)).

Description of competitive advantages

The project is run by JSC Russian Railways in collaboration with the administrations of the respective municipalities and constituent entities of the Russian Federation, in 70 residential areas in various parts of the country. The goal is to create a comfortable and safe environment for these people to live in, improve working conditions and leisure facilities, raise the standard of living of RZD employees and their families, retirees, and the general population of participating towns and cities.

In 2021, the project “Development of the Social Infrastructure in Populated Areas Near Railway Stations” took second place in the “Comfortable City” category at the #WETOGETHER International Awards as one of the best initiatives aimed at helping people and improving quality of life. In 2023, the “Sports Station” project (part of the Action Plan) won first place in the “Best Corporate Programme for the Development of Corporate Sports and a Healthy Lifestyle in Hard-to-Reach Areas” category of the National Corporate Sports Awards held by the Corporate Sports Association.
