Creation of a new data transit route along the North-South transport corridor to India
Indian telecom operators mainly use submarine cables to connect to global Internet networks, connecting Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and America. Cable cuts are periodically caused by ship anchors during storms from both sides Suez Canal. The Russian Railways holding, represented by its subsidiary JSC TransTeleCom Company (TTK), is implementing a project to create a telecommunications route connecting Europe and India through the territories of Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran, using the the fiber optic networks along the railways
Sky, Space And Communication Technologies
(4-5G) wireless communications
The project was initiated in 2021. Current status: search for commercial partners in India. The project requires support from the governments of India and Russia in terms of heavy coverage of the project at the level of relevant ministries and among telecommunication companies.
The transit digital mainline operates along the North-South transport corridor.
• A reliable predominantly terrestrial data transit route will ensure redundancy of existing routes; • The terrestrial route is nearly 800 km shorter, which allows to reach the lower latency (round-trip delay) while transiting traffic and facilitates premium communication quality
