Richly Ornamented—Digital Preservation of Historic Buildings

Problem and implemented solution

Historic buildings, as non-renewable heritage, carry the history and cultural deposits of a city, and are the city's unrepeatable cultural nameplate. With the rapid advancement of urban construction and economic development, historic buildings are facing serious preservation and inheritance problems. Protecting historic buildings is to retain the cultural lineage of the city, and it will benefit our future generations. The traditional way of protecting historic buildings is mainly through manual methods to map the composition, which requires a lot of manpower, material resources and time and is objectively easy to cause damage to the historic buildings in the process of preservation. 3D laser scanning technology and photogrammetry technology has non-contact, accuracy and rapidity, and virtual reality technology has interoperability. The introduction of 3D laser scanning technology, photogrammetry technology, virtual reality technology, BIM and GIS for refined modeling and management of historic buildings can provide an important means for realizing the preservation and inheritance of historic buildings.

Description of competitive advantages

1. The number of higher vocational colleges and universities in China that offer ancient architecture engineering technology majors is 28, and there are fewer specialists engaged in the digital preservation of historic buildings, fewer enterprises specializing in the digital preservation of historic buildings, and the degree of competition in the industry is generally fierce at present. 2. Relying on the school's Intelligent Construction Industry College, we have better technical talent reserves, equipment foundation and market expansion potential. With the introduction of enterprises into the school and the school into the enterprise, we have the technical backbone of enterprises, double-qualified teachers and ladder-type student teams, and relevant operational equipment, which can conveniently carry out the work related to the digital preservation of historic buildings. 3. The market potential of digital preservation of historic buildings is huge. The results of the third China cultural relics census show that there are 766,722 immovable cultural relics nationwide, which shows that there are more ancient buildings that need to be gradually digitized for preservation, and there is a huge potential for the market of digital preservation of historic buildings.
