Belt and Road Bankers Roundtable
In order to better support building the Belt & Road and promote financial connectivity cooperation, ICBC hosted the first Belt and Road Bankers Roundtable in May, 2017 during the first Belt & Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) under the guidance of People’s Bank of China (PBoc). The meeting issued the BRBR Beijing Joint Declaration, marking the establishment of the Belt and Road Bankers Roundtable (BRBR), which became the only initiative from a commercial institution in the official outcome list of the inaugural BRF.

BRBR held a series of events including Belt and Road Bankers Roundtable, Hongqiao Economic Forum, and capacity building forums to promote cooperation among its members and observers institutions in project financing, green finance, Fintech, inclusive finance, risk management, capital market, personnel training etc., aiming to deepen experience sharing and mutual learning, and consolidate the multilateral financial cooperation along the Belt and Road. There are four working groups under BRBR, which are Green Finance, Fintech, Investment and Financing, and SME inclusive Finance. Up to now, BRBR has 176 member institutions and observers from 75 countries and regions. Since its establishment, BRBR has issued 7 BRBR green bonds in global market, releasing 3 thematic research reports or casebook on green finance and transition finance, put forward 7 initiatives among BRBR members, and organized 8 BRBR capacity building workshops. Besides, BRBR members have achieved remarkable progress in project cooperation along the Belt and Road, such as the waste incineration project power station in Hanoi, Nam Kong 1 Hydroelectric power project in Laos, Dubai thermo-solar power project and etc.
