Ecopolis on Sakhalin
The project's challenge lies in the fragile ecosystem of Sakhalin Island, where the precarious balance of geological, hydrological and meteorological processes requires careful handling and careful planning. We propose to create an Ecopolis that integrates the ideas of digitalization, decarbonization and preservation of natural ecosystems. The project aims at sustainable development of the area, offering unique living conditions and contributing to the economic growth of the region. Special attention is paid to the organization of space, work and leisure activities, as well as encouraging residents to use resources consciously and adopt innovative technologies.

Ecopolis is designed for a wide audience and includes spaces for research, collaboration and development. Institutes, research centers and innovation laboratories will be located here, forming an educational environment where people explore the unique nature of the island. Area The project site is located near Sakhalin's largest seaport, through which cargo ships and cruise liners pass. High investment potential It is based on several possible initiatives: creation and development of the Korsakov fish logistics and processing center, construction of hotels, organization of new industrial enterprises, ship servicing, creation of a TPA. Developed industry The territory already has a beer and beverage plant, a liquefied natural gas plant, a cannery, a boiler plant and an asphalt plant, as well as an oceanic fishing base and fish factories. Natural points of attraction Almost 10% of the territory of the region is occupied by specially protected natural territories - 3 nature reserves, botanical gardens, 2 natural parks, 11 nature reserves, 40 natural monuments. High potential for the development of various types of sports and tourist activities Balneological and thermal springs, opportunities for skiing, fishing, diving, water sports, as well as more than 1000 cultural and historical sites can be found in the surrounding area. New urban mobility Creation of a green urban environment through the use of CO2-free public transport: introduction of electric transport (streetcars and electric buses), creation of bicycle infrastructure. Green framework of the new city The green areas are located in the design area taking into account the alignment of the main planning axes, which determine the direction of connections with nearby green areas. Along these axes, boulevards are laid out as part of the street profile or fully pedestrianized, and linear landscaping is carried out along the streets traced along these axes. Public spaces, retail and services Formation of measures aimed at attracting investment. Electricity supply The project envisages the development of alternative energy sources: wind turbines, wave energy, tidal energy, hydrogen energy and solar panels.
