Solar cells based on organic dyes

Problem and implemented solution

This work is a continuation of the research "Solar paints" on the creation of solar cells based on organic dyes, the results of which were presented at the conference "Youth. Science. Culture" in March 2023. In the course of the "Solar Paints" study, solar cells were created based on carbazole paint, raspberry juice, honeysuckle juice and blackcurrant juice. During the implementation of the project, it was possible to assemble solar cells based on organic dyes, conduct research on their operation, improve the created solar cells, increasing their efficiency by 3-6 times based on the use of transparent electrically conductive substrates instead of previously used solar cells in which graphite applied to a slide was used, and achieve PHOTOEDC indicators of small-sized solar cells (2cm x 8cm) almost at the level of EMF of galvanic cells (batteries) available on sale.

Description of competitive advantages

What if the photovoltaic material were made in the form of paint, which can be applied to any surface, for example, on the exterior of a building or a car. In this case, energy self-sufficiency could be achieved and low-cost, environmentally friendly energy could be provided to regions suffering from energy shortages. Such technology could provide easy installation of photovoltaic cells even on urban buildings, and photovoltaic panels could be maintained by re-applying "paint".
