CPR training and qualification simulator (Digital Twin) using XR and AI technology

Problem and implemented solution

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a life-saving technique crucial for individuals experiencing cardiac arrest. However, effective CPR requires precision in both technique and timing, which is challenging to master without extensive hands-on training. Traditional CPR training often lacks the personalized feedback required for learners to improve their performance, and real-world practice opportunities are limited. This can lead to inconsistent training outcomes and inadequate readiness among healthcare professionals and first responders. Implemented Solution: The "CPR Training and Qualification Simulator" is a highly immersive solution that uses Extended Reality (XR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, effectively acting as a Digital Twin of real-life CPR scenarios. This system offers realistic and interactive simulations, allowing trainees to practice CPR in a controlled, yet lifelike virtual environment. 1. Extended Reality (XR): XR technology, including Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR) enables trainees to interact with a virtual patient that mimics real-world conditions. The immersive environment helps users develop a sense of urgency and spatial awareness, enhancing their overall learning experience. 2. Artificial Intelligence (AI): The simulator incorporates AI algorithms to monitor and analyze the trainee's actions in real-time, providing immediate feedback on critical factors such as hand positioning, compression depth, rate, and ventilation technique. AI also tracks the progress of trainees over time, allowing for personalized training programs tailored to individual needs and improvement areas. 3. Digital Twin: The simulator serves as a digital twin of real-world CPR scenarios, where virtual patients can exhibit different levels of critical conditions, such as varying heart rhythms or respiratory distress. This digital twin approach ensures that trainees can be exposed to a wide range of medical emergencies and refine their decision-making and physical response in real-time. 4. Gamification and Data Analytics: The system includes elements of gamification to keep learners engaged, such as scoring mechanisms based on accuracy and response time. Additionally, the simulator uses data analytics to provide comprehensive reports, enabling trainees and instructors to track performance metrics over time.
