Problem Statement: Farmers need to scout for crop stressed areas within their farm daily to detect & intervene on the stressed areas. This is a tedious process often not done on daily basis. Typically, farmers realize their crop is stressed only when about 25% – 30% is affected, which gives the farmer no time to plan the most effective intervention, rather he ends up over spraying of chemicals, generally costing him more; as well as reducing the probability recovery due to late intervention, overall impacting his yield & profitability. • According to UN FAO, Farmers lose up to 40% of their potential crop yield due to Pest and Diseases. • Early intervention is critical to reduce the loss in crop yield but expecting a farmer to inspect every inch of the farm is very tedious and keeps the farmers away from other activities • Every crop poses a different challenge in terms of inspection due thick vegetation, height of the crop and especially horticulture related crops like cashew and oil palms. • There are some pests and diseases that start within the stem/root/below the leaf, with very little visual manifestation for the Farmer to detect and by the time there is visual manifestation, the time available for the farmer to intervene will be greatly reduced impacting the final yield. Implemented Solution: Early Detection of stresses leads to savings in cost (reduced pesticide use) and improves productivity (increased probability of recovery due to early intervention) Krishivaas AI – Early Warning System for the farmers, processes daily, multi spectral satellite images of the crop fields using our proprietary algorithms to detect both Abiotic as well as Biotic stressed areas, Alert the farmer and help in navigating to the exact location so that the most optimal intervention can be planned out. Krishivaas AI – Early Warning System is fully automated and sends out alerts with actionable intelligence without any human intervention, making it the most economical solution for the farmers, freeing up their scouting time to manage other activities. Field studies in India have shown that our solution helps small and marginal farmers to reduce costs by about 30% and improve productivity by about 25% with our solution cost for the farmers being only $ 0.016 USD (1.6 cents only) per day, per acre. Beyond real-time farm analysis, we leverage three years of satellite imagery data to deliver these insights upon farm onboarding: • Farm productivity zones map: • Identification of Crop and non-crop areas: • Multi-year crop cycles with sowing and harvest dates • Precise crop acreage calculation after eliminating non-crop and non-vegetation areas This comprehensive approach empowers farmers with actionable insights for optimizing agricultural practices.
