Simulation Analysis and Optimization Design of Pilot-operated Proportional Directional Valve

High-performance pilot-operated proportional directional valves, as critical foundational components in China's manufacturing industry, hold significant importance. However, these valves, widely utilized across various sectors in China, are predominantly monopolized by companies such as Bosch Rexroth from Germany and Atos from Italy. This monopoly situation has led to constraints on China's autonomous development in terms of technology, pricing, supply cycles, and other aspects, posing a bottleneck problem for the independent development of many major equipment in China. In addressing pilot-operated proportional directional valves, a comprehensive design of proportional valves is undertaken. Simulation and optimization analyses are conducted on proportional valves with different shapes of throttle slots to explore the impact of various slot shapes on the valves. Main valve flow validation is performed, and dynamic and static characteristics analyses are carried out on the proportional valves. Structural optimization of the valves is conducted using orthogonal experiments, and an acceleration test load spectrum is compiled based on the actual usage conditions of the proportional valve product.

Microwave Sensor for Liquid Concentration Measurement
Microwave Sensor for Liquid Concentration Measurement

Microwave Sensor for Liquid Concentration Measurement

Metamaterial-based sensors have been received great attention due to their high sensitivity and miniaturized size for determining the permittivity. This project presents the design and simulation of a metamaterial microwave sensor operating as a dual band sensor at 2.2GHz and 3.3GHz to determine the liquid ratio in water. The sensor was designed with split ring resonators(SRRs) and an electronic inductance circuit(ELC) resonator in the defected ground structure(DGS). The slot in the transmission line coupled with two half-ring are used for generating the resonances and the photonic band gap(PBG) structures to enhance the quality factor and improve sensitivity. The gaps in the ELC section are considered to have dual band characteristic.

Richly Ornamented—Digital Preservation of Historic Buildings

Historic buildings, as non-renewable heritage, carry the history and cultural deposits of a city, and are the city's unrepeatable cultural nameplate. With the rapid advancement of urban construction and economic development, historic buildings are facing serious preservation and inheritance problems. Protecting historic buildings is to retain the cultural lineage of the city, and it will benefit our future generations. The traditional way of protecting historic buildings is mainly through manual methods to map the composition, which requires a lot of manpower, material resources and time and is objectively easy to cause damage to the historic buildings in the process of preservation. 3D laser scanning technology and photogrammetry technology has non-contact, accuracy and rapidity, and virtual reality technology has interoperability. The introduction of 3D laser scanning technology, photogrammetry technology, virtual reality technology, BIM and GIS for refined modeling and management of historic buildings can provide an important means for realizing the preservation and inheritance of historic buildings.

The treated effluents enter the initial (receiving) tank. In the receiving tank, homogenization is carried out to a homogeneous suspension, which is fed into the KP-10 installation. A quicklime solution (Ca(OH)2). It's a cheap consumable. In KP-10, the mixture is dispersed. All molecular compounds are destroyed. Dispersion occurs due to the effects of cavitation, which occurs under the influence of magnetic bodies and fields, the structure and nature of which are a trade secret of the applicant. As a result of processing, complex compounds disintegrate, oxidize and are converted into passive forms of salts, which reduces the hazard class of the treated masses to a minimum, up to process water and harmless humus.

TagSense:RFID based wireless sensing method and system for wheat temperature and moisture

Grain is a major source of food, while grain security has been considered as a strategic issue in many countries. Temperature and moisture as the two key properties affect the quality of stored grain. Most existing approaches for sensing this properties are expensive, time-consuming, and are difficult to deploy. In this scheme, we utilize a commercial RFID system to affix tags onto sensing targets. The RFID reader communicates with these tags to gather tag information and acquire the target temperature and moisture. The system boasts low cost (with tags priced at only 0.3 RMB each) and facilitates easy online measurement.

Real-Time Detection of CO2 Leakage in Transparent Subsurface Formations

Climate change poses a critical global challenge, and CO2 geological sequestration is an effective strategy for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. While the successful injection of CO2 into subsurface formations is important, ensuring that it remains securely stored without leakage is crucial for the success of sequestration efforts. Immediate detection and remediation of any leakage are essential to prevent atmospheric release. Current methods, such as seismic monitoring, are often not real-time, have low accuracy, and are costly. Delayed detection means CO2 could be released for an extended period, undermining sequestration efforts. Therefore, real-time leakage detection is crucial. Experts from the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Saudi Aramco have collaborated to develop a novel technology for this purpose. The major innovations include: 1. Automatic Interpretation Techniques: These techniques analyze large volumes of geological data, and stochastic discrete fracture network methods simulate various geological scenarios to enhance accuracy. 2. Deep-Learning Based Upscaling: This method generates computationally efficient geological models. 3. Bayesian Inversion Methods: Combined with deep learning algorithms, these methods identify potential leakage sites in real time. This innovative approach has been successfully adopted by Saudi Aramco and implemented in the largest carbon capture and storage (CCS) project in the MENA region.

+120% to Feature Activation and Growth of 8 Metrics: the Case of Kaspersky Mobile Security for iOS

1. Some users think our app is designed only to search for viruses and malware, whereas it actually provides comprehensive security for a device. It was an exciting insight to learn some users see a security app for their 21st-century device solely as a program with 20th-century functionality. 2. The second problem is somewhat related to the first, but we’d like to consider it separately as we found it only after analyzing app metrics: paid users don’t see and never use some of the features they paid for. We did our best to find a solution to both problems that wouldn’t require too many development resources. One solution was to design a feature that would check the security settings of the device and detect unconfigured features of our app — it could suggest unused features to the user and draw their attention to them. It could help the user quickly fix the identified vulnerabilities, which in turn should improve their digital security while simultaneously attracting new customers for our business. Cross Culture for Global South

Cross-cultural engagement in the Global South involves the sharing of ideas, norms, values, and beliefs among societies with diverse cultural backgrounds. It is crucial in a globalized world to foster mutual understanding and respect between different cultural spheres. However, issues like cultural imperialism, misinterpretation, and underdevelopment can arise. Cultural diplomacy advocates for balanced cross-cultural relations by sharing cultural heritage and resources, while intercultural competence promotes cognitive, affective, and behavioral capabilities. Local context-based development focuses on leveraging local values, norms, and belief systems to adapt development projects to local needs. Collaborative global governance ensures a multi-directional and cooperative decision-making process, reducing the influence of neo-colonial power dynamics and creating a more inclusive space for the exchange of ideas, skills, and knowledge. Addressing cross-cultural issues in the Global South requires addressing cultural imperialism, misinterpretation, and underdevelopment.
