Energy Storage System Based Power Grid Arbitrator (ESGA)
Energy Storage System Based Power Grid Arbitrator (ESGA)

Energy Storage System Based Power Grid Arbitrator (ESGA)

Traditional distribution grids were "passive," channeling power one-way from substations to loads. Increasing distributed generation and energy storage have turned these loads into "prosumers," impacting grid operations. Key challenges include reduced system inertia, fast dynamics, harmonic distortions, voltage stability, synchronization, protection challenges, and reduced stability margins. To address these, the energy storage-based power grid arbitrator (ESGA) was developed. ESGA optimizes energy flow, ensures stability, and manages prosumer power within the grid, forming part of an advanced anti-failure automation system to maintain grid stability and performance

Bright eyes - the leader of a new generation of intelligent fire monitoring and early warning system

There are many problems in the existing fire monitoring and early warning system, which mainly include: False alarms and false negatives: Traditional temperature and smoke detectors often have false alarms and false alarms, mainly because their sensitivity is not high and they are easily affected by environmental factors. Slow response time: Many detectors have a long response time, resulting in a faster spread of fire and increasing the hazard of fire. Poor environmental adaptability: Some detectors do not perform well in complex environments, making it difficult to accurately identify fires. Weak anti-interference ability: Some detectors are susceptible to interference from other light sources (such as visible light, infrared light, etc.), which reduces their accuracy and reliability. Counterfeit and shoddy products: There are a large number of substandard products on the market, which tend to have a short lifespan, lower standards, or even deliberately lower sensitivity to reduce false positives, but also reduce overall security. Implemented solutions In order to solve the above problems, the "Keen Eye" team has developed a new generation of intelligent fire monitoring and early warning system, which has the following characteristics: AlGaN ultraviolet flame detector: This detector is only sensitive to 350-400nm solar blind ultraviolet light, is not interfered with by other light sources, has a very low electronic affinity, excellent chemical stability and long service life. information is mention in the Presentation, slide

Integerating GIS , Remote Sensing and IT for managing Ethiopian Green Legacy Inititative

Through the Green Legacy Initiative by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Ethiopia has planted over 32 billion seedlings. This initiative aims to combat deforestation, restore degraded landscapes, increase the country's forest cover, and ensure food security. Despite various afforestation and tree-planting initiatives declared at different times by the Ethiopian government, the effectiveness and impact of these efforts on vegetation cover are not well known (Takele et al., 2022). Many of the tree planting sites were not georeferenced until July 2023, when the Prime Minister initiated a georeferenced tree planting scheme. However, this scheme has faced numerous challenges. The collected data came in different formats, languages, and reference systems, creating significant problems for data processing and visualization. Additionally, there is no unified data collection system; some data are collected using GPS, while others use open-source methods. There is also no national repository for managing the collected data, making it difficult for people to access it. Furthermore, monitoring the survival rate of the planted trees often relies on manual methods, which are prone to bias, less cost-effective, and challenging to manage across the entire country. To address these issues, we have developed a project titled "Integrating GIS, RS, and IT for Managing the Ethiopian Green Legacy Initiative." The project comprises three components: data collection, system development, and monitoring. 1. Data Collection: We are customizing an open-source mobile app called QField. This app is offline-capable, inexpensive, equipped with built-in GPS, user-friendly, multifunctional, and features advanced mapping tools. Using this mobile app will help integrate data, maintain data quality, and make data easily accessible and shareable. 2. System Development: We are building a system that includes an interactive map, user registration/login, field data upload and download capabilities, visualization, and data management features. 3. Monitoring: We will monitor the survival rate of the planted seedlings using satellite imagery, specifically NICFI satellite imagery. Overall, our solution addresses the challenges faced by the Ethiopian Green Legacy Initiative and helps Ethiopia achieve its targets.

ECOPHONE - publicly-oriented non-for-profit mobile application and WEB platform for citizens, businesses and decision-makers to register and deal with environmental incidents

Citizens regularly encounter such eco-incidents as garbage dumps, water and soil pollution, deforestation, poaching, etc. Not all citizens know where to go to correctly and quickly file an application for prompt elimination of the violation. Therefore, they either "pass by" or "bombard" all known authorities with complaints, which often complicates the solution of the problem. Our foundation conducted a survey among followers of regional environmental associations, which confirmed that more than 80% of respondents do not know where to send such information. All these questions are addressed by the Ecophone software package, which allows to interact with government agencies and tackle specific environmental problems without filling out paper documents and searching for the necessary authorities. We are the Russian based non-for-profit NGO “The Environmental Protection Foundation - Ecophone” (till November 2023 - the Climate Security Foundation). We completed development the application in Summer 2024. The MVP version of application was presented at the Xth Nevskiy Ecological Congress in St.-Petersburg in 2023. Since then, we invested significant amount of time and resources to integrate the functionality which was recommended by our test audiences. Nowadays the application is available in Russian and English at AppStore and Google PlayMarket and ready to be deployed in any country. In the context of unification of approaches to environmental assessments and monitoring within BRICS area the applications of this kind build solid support for international cooperation and effective exchange of best practices in nature management. Besides the software code and API, we will be happy to share the methodologies for environmental impact assessment and ESG rating of regions, so that all these products could be used by all interested members for the purpose of their purification and advancement. Using the Ecophone app - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWS6gotxpKE - anyone can report an environmental incident anywhere in the world and monitor how their appeal is being processed and the damage is being eliminated. The communication channels between registered Ecophone users allow to quickly verify the authenticity of the application with the help of environmental experts and public inspectors, and calculate the possible damage. Lawyers involved in the project prepare appeals to authorized state agencies. The interactive map of the platform displays the real picture of the environmental situation on scale of countries, republics, and regions. Based on the collected data, the rating and ranking of regions, businesses, and environmental activists is formed. The Ecophone platform allows to collect and evaluate information about positive environmental initiatives, regional and business ESG-projects, and track the dynamics of their development.
